David Novillo

Professional knowledge management and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) with the doctoral thesis “Access to information and use of social media in public health: an analysis of national health authorities and leading causes of death in Latin America”. Also, Special Award of the Master in Research in Documentation by the UC3M with the thesis project on “Biomedical information in the search engines: retrieval and evaluation”. Diploma in Health Promotion by the Public University of Navarre and Certificate Program in Leadership Strategies for Information Technology in Health Care by University of Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Among other positions of responsibility, he has been responsible for the Center of Knowledge Management at The High Commissioner for Support of Victims of Terrorism, Presidency of Spain; technical advisor at the Ministry of Health of Spain; he has also worked as an associate professor in the Department of Library and Information Science at the Carlos III University of Madrid.

In the scientific field, he has participated in over 100 activities related to knowledge management and eHealth, highlighting publications in journals such as Health Affairs, Clinical Medicine, and British Medical Journal, in which he was a guest editor for a special issue on eHealth.

Since June 2010, he works at the Pan American Health Organization, where he co-authore of important documents for the Region of the Americas, such as the “Strategy and Plan of Action on eHealth” and the “Strategy and Plan of Action on Knowledge Management and Communications”.

Currently, he coordinates the eHealth Program of the Pan American Health Organization, Regional Office of the World Health Organization for the Americas (PAHO / WHO) in Washington, D.C.
