Transportation to and from the International John Paul II Airport in Krakow

The bus stop is located in front of the main entrance to the airport. Ticket price: 2.50 PLN (Polish Zloty) If purchased from the bus driver, an additional fee of 0.50 PLN is applicable. This bus is particularly convenient for workshop attendees who are staying at the Cracovia Hotel since there is a bus stop situated just in front of the hotel.

Journey time to the center of the city is around 30 minutes.

 Taxi

Taxis are available outside the Arrivals terminal. Journey time to the center of the city is around 30 minutes. Fare is approximately 50 PLN.

 Shuttle Train

A frequent shuttle train service connects the airport with the Central Railway Station(CRS) in the city center across from the Andel's Hotel. Journey time to the CRS is around 20 minutes. Fare to CRS is 4.00 PLN. Free shuttle buses are provided from the airport to the shuttle train stop situated just 200 meters from the airport main entrance.

Polish Visas

Workshop attendees who are not citizens or residents of the EU or the USA, should apply for a Polish visa at a Polish Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

Money and Banking

The official currency in Poland is zloty (zl or PLN), divided into 100 groszes. There are notes of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 zlotys and coins in values of 1, 2, 5 zlotys and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 groszes.

Currency exchange service is available in banks, hotels and the exchange money shops called "KANTOR".

Shopping

Most shops in Krakow are open from 10:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday. Shopping centers have longer working hours, from 9:00 to 22:00, Monday to Saturday, and 9:00 to 21:00 on Sundays.

Tipping

The customary tip for a restaurant meal in Poland ranges from 10 to 15 percent of the total bill. Tipping at fast food restaurants and some coffee places (where there is no traditional table service) is not necessary.
