Unioninkatu 36, Helsinki The National Library functions as a service and development centre for Finnish libraries with a duty to promote both national and international co-operation. It is also responsible for acquiring and preserving the national heritage in form of publications as well as maintaining its collections of research material and for providing access to them. Main building was designed by Carl Ludwig Engel and Aurorankatu 6, Helsinki In addition to serving the Parliament of Finland, the library serves all who need parliamentary, legal, or social and political information. Parlament building is designed by Johan Sigfrid Siren 1931, library part by architects Pitkänen–Laiho–Raunio 1978. National Library of Health Sciences - Terkko Terkko is the research library of the Medical Faculty of the University of Helsinki. It also functions as the scientific library for the Helsinki University Central Hospital. Terkko is the national resource library in medicine and health sciences and has been designated as the WHO Information Service Centre in Finland. Main building designed by Olli-Pekka Jokela, 1998.
The library serves students and researchers at the University of Helsinki, and all those who need information in its subject fields: veterinary medicine, pharmacy, environmental issues, bioscience and biotechnology, food science, agriculture and forestry. Library was established 1999 at Korona building, designed by ARK-house architects. Helsinki City Library, Viikki Library public library, at the same building with science library The Social Insurance Institution of Finland - KELA Nordenskiöldinkatu 12, Helsinki Kela provides basic security for all persons resident in Finland, covering the different stages of their lives. The library specializes in social security, social insurance and other related areas. It is open to the public. Main building with library designed by Alvar Aalto, built 1953-1957.
