Welcome to Dublin! Print E-mail
Dear Colleagues,  It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Dublin for the EAHIL Workshop 2009. It is hard to believe that after all the planning and organising, we will finally get to meet you all next week!

If you are unable to attend the Workshop, I do hope you will stay in touch with us by checking the blog on the EAHIL Workshop website www.eahil2009.ie , by following EAHIL2009 on Twitter and by checking out the photographs on the EAHIL Flickr page
If you are attending, I have attached important information for all delegates, and you should read this and bring a printed copy of this document with you on your journey.  It includes information about getting from the airport to your hotel, and information about the venues for Continuing Education Courses.  It is important to note that Monday 1st June is a public holiday in Ireland and many services and shops may be closed or have restricted opening hours.   Information for Continuing Education Course Providers will follow shortly.

The programme is available on the EAHIL 2009 website www.eahil2009.ie/scientific-programme.html  and a full printed programme will be provided in your conference packs.  In addition we will provide a map of the city, a notepad and a pen - kindly donated by ProQuest, our Title Sponsors.   A useful map is also available on the website- I suggest you print this map and bring it with you www.eahil2009.ie/map.html

If you have any queries about the programme or any other matters, do get back in touch with me at this email address.

In addition, we would like to invite delegates who are in Dublin on Tuesday night to attend an informal 'Meet and Greet' dinner with some members of the Local Organising Committee….

This is an experimental idea!  We will reserve some tables in a city centre restaurant for this informal gathering. Delegates will be responsible for paying for their meal and drinks, but we will choose a pleasant and affordable venue (2 courses for approx €20-25) for dinner at 18.30.  You will have to let us know IN ADVANCE if you want to attend by emailing your name to this email address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   before 13.00 on Friday 29th May. (I will need exact numbers in order to reserve the restaurant.)   So don't be shy! If you are travelling alone it is a great opportunity to meet with your fellow delegates in a relaxed atmosphere. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   before 13.00 on Friday 29th May to reserve your space.

Finally, the weather….Irish weather is unpredictable! We are hoping for warmer weather next week, but temperatures have been ranging from 9-20 degrees C in the past two weeks.   It is advisable to bring a warm waterproof jacket  or a raincoat and fleece, and an umbrella.  If you find you are too cold, or need to find a cheap umbrella, large stores like Dunnes Stores in Saint Stephen's Green shopping centre www.stephensgreen.com/map.php are ideal to pick up these items at a very reasonable cost.

Dublin Castle will be open to delegates from Tuesday 2nd June, so we look forward to seeing you then. Have a safe journey to Dublin.

Best regards
Louise Farragher, Chair, Local Organising Committee
Paul Murphy, Chair International Programme Committee
