Prof. Janusz Kapuscik, Director of The Central Medical Library in Warsaw suddenly died on 30 June 1999.

He was a historian of science and culture, a worker of library science and bibliographer, a Professor of Lodz University, an author of over 200 scientific materials, Chief-Editor of "The Bulletin of the Central Medical Library" and "The Diary of Medical Warsaw Society". He was awarded the Gold Medal of Albert Schweitzer (Polonisches Albert Schweitzer-Komitee).
