Peer review process is changing. The action of technologies and the changes of the publishing market are the main reasons for such transformation. Internet and the IT in general are deeply involved in such a changing process, where the peer review procedures loose their traditional characteristics and the process finds new efficiency together with a whole reshaping.
The open access journals are becoming more and more important in the arena of the international publishing, while the open access publication model shows features which meet the needs of online open peer review.
The study focuses on editorial peer review, its characteristics and way of change; particular attention will be given to pros and cons of online open peer review, seen in a context of open access journals.
